Maternal Health

It’s Maternal Health week, and I was moved to write a blog about how we hold experiences, such as the trauma of miscarriage, pregnancy loss and traumatic birth in our body.

What goes on in our mind affects our body

We are mostly forgiven for thinking that we hold this in our mind and we do, AND what goes on in the mind affects our body too.

There are many books written about this and two of my favourites are;

Louise HayHeal Your Body

How Your Mind Can Heal Your Body, by David R. Hamilton PhD

Both are well worth reading.

Healing Modalities

After my baby loss, I experienced several different healing modalities to help me heal. The first was CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), which I found didn’t help me much at all. A few years later, I discovered energy healing, which helped a lot. I shifted the sorrow I was feeling from my energy field. I’ve also experienced other healing such as Hypnotherapy, Regression Therapy, Reiki and Aromatherapy Massage. Each were helpful and when I experienced and trained as an Energy Alignment Method mentor and coach, I realised the importance of releasing mentally, emotionally and physically.

I recently experienced Myofascial Release, which works on releasing from the fascia of the body, where we store inflammation, and therefore become restricted.

Letting Go

During the treatment, the therapist was working on my stomach area.  When she began it was rock hard. After a while I began to feel a physical release in the form of shaking, coughing, yawning, watering eyes, and shivering. The therapist informed me that this was a normal reaction and that I was letting go of the stored trauma and emotion which was held there.

She went onto explain, that we hold trauma in our body, whether that is physical, mental, or emotional.

It made perfect sense to me, and the release that I experienced was like nothing I’d felt before.

Are you holding onto your trauma?

I wanted to write about this experience, so that it may help others who have lost babies, miscarried or had a difficult birth and are unconsciously holding emotional, and physical scars in this area.  It maybe something to consider a treatment of this type.

I thought my healing was complete…

I personally, highly recommend it and am surprised after all these years of working on myself, that there was still unresolved issues. However, it is important to remember that we release our stuff in layers and not all at once.

I also think that there are times in your life when you are ready for certain type of release, whether it’s counselling, CBT, Energy Work or Body Work. Often we may experience it all over a period of years. What I’m trying to say, is that we are ready at different times in our lives to try different ways of healing.  One size does not fit all.

The important thing is that you do something, otherwise it will remain stored in your energy and your physical body. So if you’re feeling like you need something to change in your life, consider a treatment of your choice.

I can help with releasing trauma from your Energy, and if you’d like a conversation about how that might be, please get in touch.
