Go with the Flow Retreat
Having just returned from running our third Retreat in Kalkan, I can honestly say that this was the best so far.
We had a wonderful group of women, who said YES to themselves and decided that they and their self-care were overdue a break from their busy lives.
Let’s face it, the last two years have been challenging in many, many ways.
We flew from Gatwick as a group and were transferred to the idyllic resort of Kalkan, on the turquoise coast of SW Turkey. Julia from HolidayHomesTurkey, had resourced a beautiful, luxurious villa with a heated outdoor pool, and plenty of outdoor space to practice Yoga. The villa housed 11 of us, and some had booked their own room, and others shared a twin.
Our Beautiful Villa
We had lots of living space too, with outdoor/indoor dining, a well-equipped open plan kitchen, which led into a wonderful open space to sit on sofas and relax. This area became our snug and circle, where we would chat, and share experiences of the past, present and our future hopes and dreams.
Start the day with Yoga Flow
We started each day with an hour’s flow Yoga, with @YogawithVickiB who led us gently through our routine, starting slow and building up over the week. Some hadn’t done yoga in a while, and some hadn’t ever before, and some were quite practiced. It didn’t matter what stage we were at; everyone gave it their best shot and did what they could. The outdoor space beside pool in the fresh morning air, was the perfect spot.
Yoga was followed by a deep guided meditation, led by me, either lying down on the yoga mat, or moving into the sunbeds, which were warmed by the morning sun.
Al Fresco Turkish Breakfast
We then had a fresh Turkish Breakfast, with eggs, everyway, cheese, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, olives, freshly baked bread, jams and honey, and fresh fruit and Yoghurt. All beautifully prepared for us to enjoy on the patio under a patio garden ceiling.
Each day was slightly different. The first day, we completed our Yoga, had a welcome opening session followed by a trip to a local Hammam and a 30-minute massage. We all felt so very relaxed after, and it was an ideal way to start, especially after travelling.
Lots of different daily activities as well as down time
On some days, I would run a workshop, whether that was to teach everyone how to realign their energy using the Energy Alignment Method, or an Aromatherapy workshop, where everyone had a chance to smell and try the oils and make their own personal blend.
Mindfulness Walking into Saklikent Gorge
We took a trip to Saklikent Gorge, the third longest gorge in Europe, and enjouyed a typical ottoman style Turkish Breakfast, followed by mindfulness walking into the gorge, which was so powerful as we had the sound of the river all around us.
Coastal View by boat
We finished the week with a boat trip to Kekova – where we joined a Turkish Gulet boat around the coastline and saw an ancient Roman sunken city. The land here felt incredibly ancient and powerful, and we took in the sights, sounds and beauty of the area with a mindfulness session. It was incredibly powerful, to say the least to stop and just be in the moment for a little bit. Often, we like to fill the space with chatter and to just stop and be immersed right into the moment was incredible.
In our villa, the garden was filled with roses and lemon trees, and other Mediterranean flowers, which made you literally want to stop and smell the roses. This type of rose – “Rosa Damascene” is where the essential oil is extracted from. It takes approximately, 1000 rose petals to get 1 drop! No wonder Rose oil is so very expensive.
On the evening after the boat trip, we had a Sound Healing Tuning Fork Session, where they all sat on the sofa’s and listened to the music, and I individually gave each person a tune up with the tuning forks. The tuning forks are magical and work to clear the chakras with sound vibration. Everyone felt lots lighter and refreshed after the session, and I love facilitating that.
On our final night, we had a closing session, whereby each participant, shared what they had got out of the Retreat. It was the most beautiful feedback one could hope to receive. Each and everyone had relaxed and realised the benefit of being around like-minded women, having a break from their busy lives, taking stock of how they could make positive changes going forward and take a little of the Retreat Vibe back with them into their daily lives.
The best compliment Julia, Vicki and I, could have asked for is that they re-booked for the following year!
